Display & Error Codes

The CEMOTO D-series instrument panel reports faults as decimal error codes. Find your display code below. The code points to an area to check; it does not identify a part to buy.

Error code reference

Code Status Meaning
E00 Normal No fault. The vehicle is operating normally.
E01 Reserved Reserved code — not used.
E02 Brake Error An unexpected brake signal. With power off, check that the levers return freely. Stop riding if braking is poor, a lever sticks or the error remains.
E03 PAS Sensor Error (Riding Mark) Pedal assist sensor fault. Marked "not realized" in the manual — may not be implemented on all configurations.
E04 Walk Assist Mode Informational. The bike is in walk assist mode, not a fault.
E05 Real-Time Cruise Informational. The bike is in cruise mode, not a fault.
E06 Low Voltage Protection Low-voltage protection. Let a hot battery cool and charge with the original charger. Contact support if the warning returns after charging.
E07 Motor Error A motor-related fault, possibly involving the motor or its connections. Contact support before replacing parts.
E08 Throttle Error An unexpected throttle signal. With power off, check that the throttle returns freely. Do not ride with a sticking throttle.
E09 Controller Error A controller-related fault. The controller manages motor power. The code alone does not prove this unit has failed; contact support if it remains or returns.
E10 Communications Error The display and controller are not communicating correctly. Look for visible cable damage with power off and contact support.
E12 BMS Communications Error The bike cannot communicate with the battery protection electronics, called the BMS. With power off, check the battery is seated properly, then contact support if it remains.
E13 Front Light Error A front-light-related fault. With power off, look for visible damage or moisture. Contact support before replacing the light.

Codes E03, E04 and E05 are informational or not implemented. Do not replace parts on the basis of these codes alone.

Clearing an error code

After correcting the underlying fault, cycle the power:

  1. Turn the electric door lock / power switch off.
  2. Wait approximately 10 seconds.
  3. Turn the power back on.

If the code returns immediately or comes and goes, contact support. Do not repeatedly reset the display to keep riding with a fault.

When the display itself is faulty

If the display does not illuminate at all, is dim, or is frozen, the fault may be the display or its cable rather than a system error. See Display & Settings.

Warranty note: The instrument panel (display) carries a 6-month warranty period, shorter than the 12-month period for the frame, battery, controller and motor. See Warranty.

Error code definitions are taken from the official CEMOTO electric dirt bike owner manual, section 5.1.
