Installing CEMOTO Pedals

Two minutes of work — provided you get the left-hand thread the right way round.

What you need

Tool	Notes
15 mm pedal spanner	Or a suitable adjustable spanner
Grease or anti-seize	Recommended — pedals seize into crank arms over time

Identify which pedal is which. They are marked L and R on the spindle, and they are not interchangeable.
Identify which crank arm is which. The left crank is on the non-drive side (the side without the chain/gears).
Start by hand. Thread each pedal in by hand for the first several turns. If it does not turn easily by hand, stop — you are cross-threading.
The left pedal is left-hand threaded. To tighten it you turn anticlockwise. The right pedal tightens clockwise, like a normal bolt. This is the opposite of what most people expect.
Tighten firmly with the spanner once it is hand-tight. It does not need to be brutal — the pedalling action tightens it further.
Check both by rocking them side to side. Any movement means it is still loose.

Cross-threading the left pedal by turning it the familiar way. The crank arm's thread is soft aluminum; once damaged it needs a helicoil or a new crank.
Greasing the thread — it helps now, hurts later. Anti-seize is the better choice.
Confusing the pedals — fitting an L pedal to the right crank will not seat properly and will damage both.
