How to Limit Speed on a CEMOTO Electric Dirt Bike

Three ways to cap the top speed — and what each one actually does.

The three methods

Method	Parameter	What it does
Speed limit	P08	Caps top speed. `0` = no limit; the value is in km/h
Drive mode	P10	`0` = power, `1` = electric, `2` = coexist
Start intensity	P12	`0`–`5` — how hard the motor comes in from a stop

Steps

Decide which you actually want. If the concern is top speed, use P08. If the concern is how abruptly the bike launches, that is P12, not P08.
Open the parameter menu and navigate to the chosen parameter.
Set the value. For P08, the number is in km/h — 25 km/h ≈ 16 mph.
Save, exit, and power cycle.
Test at low speed in a safe open area, then confirm the cap holds.

A speed cap is not the same as gentler acceleration

A common misconception. Lowering P08 limits how fast the bike will eventually go. It does not change how hard it accelerates up to that speed — the bike still comes off the line just as sharply. For a new or younger rider, P12 is usually the more useful setting.

Watch out for

Setting P08 to 0 expecting "slow". 0 means no limit, not "stop".
Assuming a speed cap makes the bike suitable for a smaller rider. Fit, reach and weight matter more than top speed — see Rider Fit & Sizing.
Changing P03 or P14 while you are in the menu. Neither has anything to do with speed, and both cause real faults.
