Why the naming is confusing: the same physical bike appears in the store under a marketing name (EB40, EB66) and in internal/manual naming (B28A, AEB28A). Where the manuals use a different designation from the store listing, this documentation notes both.

Top speed. Every CEMOTO eBike ships configured to a 20 mph maximum, the U.S. Class 2 limit. Some models can be set higher through the display's speed-limit parameter — the P-Setting Guide covers this. A higher setting may take the bike outside the Class 2 definition, with consequences for where it may legally be ridden, and for insurance. See Riding Laws & Compliance.
Shared platform characteristics
Most CEMOTO eBikes share a common component set:
- Drivetrain — SHIMANO 7-speed derailleur gearing.
- Charger — 54.6V 2A, UL-listed, which is the correct charger for a 48V (13S) lithium pack.
- Frame — 6061 aluminum alloy on most models (the EB66 uses carbon steel).
- Load capacity — 120 kg on every model with a published rating.
- Display — color LCD, 4 inch, on most models.
- Fork — alloy suspension, "Lo" travel designation.

eBikes vs. D-series dirt bikes
These are different product categories with different rules.

Do not assume that guidance written for one category applies to the other. In particular, D-series dirt bikes must not be ridden on public roads.
Safety fundamentals
The B57A owner manual — which covers the shared CEMOTO eBike platform — sets out the baseline rules that apply across the whole eBike range:
Before every ride, check the bike, brakes, tires and screws/nuts for tightness.
- NEVER carry a passenger on the electric bike.
- NEVER modify the electric bike with unapproved accessories.
- NEVER ride through deep water.
- NEVER perform wheelies, jumps or trick stunts.
- AVOID riding in the rain for long periods of time.
- AVOID water contact with the motor and electric lines.
- ALWAYS keep both hands on the handlebars.
- ALWAYS apply brakes lightly when riding on rocks or loose surfaces.
- ALWAYS use caution when going through puddles.
- ALWAYS inspect the electric bike before each ride to ensure a safe ride.
Who should not ride: young children, pregnant women, and anyone with vision, balance or other problems that would prevent them from riding a bicycle. eBikes are single-rider vehicles — only one person at a time.
Intended terrain: eBikes are for on-road or improved-trail use only and should not be used for riding rough trails. Damage may occur if used off road.
Alcohol and drugs: do not operate the electric bike after consuming any amount of alcohol or taking any drugs.
Helmets: the manual specifies that the correct helmet should be comfortable to the rider, lightweight, well ventilated, fit snugly, and cover the forehead. Learn and observe all road rules for the area where you ride, including always wearing an approved helmet.
Chain tension: approximately 15 mm of slack. To adjust, loosen the rear axle nuts, adjust the chain tightness screw until slack is correct, then tighten the rear axle screw.
Wet-weather braking: in rain or snow, braking distance increases. At 20 km/h the wet braking distance should not exceed 15 m. Adjust the brakes frequently and replace brake pads in time.
Electrical elements: the electric components can only be cleaned on the outside. There is no need to maintain the inside — and opening them voids the warranty on those parts.
