# Resetting the CEMOTO Controller to Factory Settings

## What you need

| FarDriver mobile app | Installed on your phone |
| A charged 12V auxiliary supply | Some procedures need the controller held powered |

## Steps

1. **Locate the controller's programming connector** — usually under the side panel or seat area.
2. **Plug in the dongle** and power the bike on.
3. **Pair the dongle** with the FarDriver app.
4. **Read the current parameters first** and save or photograph them. A factory reset discards every value you have set, including any that were correct for your wheel size or voltage.
5. **Issue the factory reset** from the app.
6. **Re-verify the critical parameters after the reset** — particularly **P03 (voltage)**, **P06 (wheel diameter)**, **P07 (magnets)**, **P13 (magnet disk)** and **P15 (undervoltage)**. A generic factory profile will not necessarily match your bike.
7. **Power cycle** and confirm the bike behaves normally at low speed.

## When a reset is the wrong answer

**A factory reset is not a diagnostic tool.** Do not use it as a first response to an error code.

| --- | --- |
| An error code (E02, E06, E07, E08, E09, E13) | Work the specific diagnostic — see [Error Code Tutorials](https://help.cemotoride.com/link/393) |
| A parameter you changed produced a fault | Set that parameter back to its previous value |
| Intermittent electrical faults | Check connectors — see [Wiring & Connectors](https://help.cemotoride.com/link/355) |
| A genuinely scrambled or replaced controller | A reset is the right tool |
