# Display & Settings The CEMOTO D-series instrument panel controls speed display, ride modes and a full set of programmable controller parameters. --- ## Display functions ### Speed The display shows current velocity. The unit is set by parameter **P02** — `0` for km/h, `1` for MPH. To change the unit from KM/H to MPH without entering the parameter menu, see the video walkthrough in [Technical Guides](https://wiki.cemotoride.com/link/336): *Change Speed Unit from KM/H to MPH*. ### Battery indicator The battery indicator light shows the power level / state of charge (SOC). Check it before every ride. ### Mileage Two distance readings are available: | Reading | Meaning | | --- | --- | | **DIS** | Single trip driving distance | | **ODO** | Total mileage | Distance unit follows the speed unit setting (miles or kilometers). ### Status indicators The panel also displays: gear, single mileage, speed in km/h or MPH, mean velocity, top speed, ride time, cruise status, Bluetooth status, undervoltage warning, dipped headlight, and a decorative strip. --- ## Riding modes The D-series has **three selectable gears** (Low / Mid / High), switched using the buttons on the dashboard. > **Safety:** The starting gear should always be **1st gear (ECO mode)**. For your safety, do not ride in high gear until you are fully familiar with the motorcycle. ### Starting procedure 1. Open the electric door lock. The instrument lights up and displays **0 gear**. 2. In 0 gear, the vehicle **does not work** — the throttle is inactive. 3. Press the **"+" key** to switch to a gear above 1. 4. The throttle becomes active and you can ride. --- ## Key operations Key operations are divided into **short press**, **long press**, and **combined key** operations. | Operation | Function | | --- | --- | | Short press | Switch the assist/speed gear while riding; switch the multi-function display data | | Long press (stationary) | Enter 6 km/h cruise mode | | Long press (while riding) | Enter real-time cruise mode; long press again to cancel it | | Long press for 3 seconds | Turn the headlights on or off | | Long press for 3 seconds (display on) | Turn the LCD display off | > Single long press is mainly used for mode / switch-status switching. **Compound key (long press)** operations are used for parameter setting. Short press does not trigger compound functions, to reduce misoperation. ### Switching the multi-function display area Short press to cycle the value shown in the multi-function display area. --- ## Settings menu **To enter parameter settings:** long press the **"+"** button. **To navigate:** short press to switch between menu items. Short press to set the parameter value under the current menu item. The parameter flashes after modification. After selecting the desired value, short press to save the current setting and move to the next menu item. **To exit:** long press **"+"**. If the instrument remains inactive for **10 seconds**, it also exits the menu automatically. --- ## Parameter reference (P01–P17) | Parameter | Function | Range / options | | --- | --- | --- | | **P01** | Backlight brightness | Level 1 is the darkest, level 3 is the brightest | | **P02** | Mileage unit | `0`: KM · `1`: MILE | | **P03** | Voltage level | 24V–72V, default 36V | | **P04** | Sleep time | `0`: no sleep · other numbers are the sleep time, range 1–60, unit: minutes | | **P05** | Power gear | `0,3` mode: 0 to 3 · `1,3` mode: 1 to 3 (no 0 gear)
`0,5` mode: 0 to 5 · `1,5` mode: 1 to 5 (no 0 gear)

`1`: Electric drive — driven by the handlebar, the power gear is invalid
`2`: Power drive and electric drive coexist (electric drive is invalid in zero-start state) | | **P11** | Power sensitivity setting | Range: 1–24 | | **P12** | Power start intensity setting | Range: 0–5 | | **P13** | Power magnet disk type setting | 5, 8 or 12 magnets | | **P14** | Controller current limit value | Default 12A · range 1–20A | | **P15** | Instrument undervoltage value | — | | **P16** | ODO reset setting | Long press the up button for 5 seconds to reset ODO | | **P17** | Cruise control function | `0`: No cruise control · `1`: Cruise control (optional) | > **Caution:** Parameters P03 (voltage level), P06 (wheel diameter), P07 (speed magnets) and P14 (current limit) affect how the controller interprets the battery and motor. **Incorrect values can cause under- or over-voltage protection faults, false speed readings, or controller damage.** Only change these if you know the correct value for your model, or with guidance from CEMOTO support. --- ## Common scenarios ### The bike turns on but does not move Check the gear. In **0 gear** the vehicle does not work — press **"+"** to select a gear above 1. ### The speed reading is wrong Check **P06** (wheel diameter) and **P07** (number of speed magnets) match your model's specification. ### Speed unit is wrong Set **P02**: `0` for KM, `1` for MILE. ### Cruise control engages unexpectedly Check **P17**. Set to `0` to disable the cruise control function. ### Restricting speed for a younger rider Two options, used together: 1. Stay in the lowest power gear (1st / ECO). 2. Lower **P08** (speed limit) to the desired maximum. You can also reduce **P14** (controller current limit) to soften acceleration, and adjust **P11** (power sensitivity) and **P12** (power start intensity) for a gentler throttle response. > **Note:** Restricting parameters changes performance, not legal classification.
