## Shared platform characteristics

Most CEMOTO eBikes share a common component set:

- **Drivetrain** — SHIMANO 7-speed derailleur gearing.
- **Charger** — 54.6V 2A, **UL-listed**, which is the correct charger for a 48V (13S) lithium pack.

## eBikes vs. D-series dirt bikes

These are different product categories with different rules.

Do not assume that guidance written for one category applies to the other. In particular, **D-series dirt bikes must not be ridden on public roads.**

## Safety fundamentals

The B57A owner manual — which covers the shared CEMOTO eBike platform — sets out the baseline rules that apply across the whole eBike range:

**Before every ride, check the bike, brakes, tires and screws/nuts for tightness.**

> - **NEVER** carry a passenger on the electric bike.
> - **NEVER** modify the electric bike with unapproved accessories.
> - **NEVER** ride through deep water.
> - **NEVER** perform wheelies, jumps or trick stunts.
> - **AVOID** riding in the rain for long periods of time.
> - **AVOID** water contact with the motor and electric lines.
> - **ALWAYS** keep both hands on the handlebars.
> - **ALWAYS** apply brakes lightly when riding on rocks or loose surfaces.
> - **ALWAYS** use caution when going through puddles.
> - **ALWAYS** inspect the electric bike before each ride to ensure a safe ride.

**Who should not ride:** young children, pregnant women, and anyone with vision, balance or other problems that would prevent them from riding a bicycle. **eBikes are single-rider vehicles** — only one person at a time.

**Intended terrain:** eBikes are for **on-road or improved-trail use only** and should not be used for riding rough trails. Damage may occur if used off road.

**Alcohol and drugs:** do not operate the electric bike after consuming any amount of alcohol or taking any drugs.

**Helmets:** the manual specifies that the correct helmet should be comfortable to the rider, lightweight, well ventilated, fit snugly, and cover the forehead. Learn and observe all road rules for the area where you ride, including always wearing an approved helmet.

**Chain tension:** approximately **15 mm** of slack. To adjust, loosen the rear axle nuts, adjust the chain tightness screw until slack is correct, then tighten the rear axle screw.

**Wet-weather braking:** in rain or snow, braking distance increases. At 20 km/h the wet braking distance should not exceed 15 m. Adjust the brakes frequently and replace brake pads in time.

**Electrical elements:** the electric components can only be cleaned on the outside. There is no need to maintain the inside — and opening them voids the warranty on those parts.

## Carbon steel frame — care note

The EB66 is the only CEMOTO eBike using a **carbon steel** frame. That choice supports the cruiser look, but steel is more vulnerable to corrosion than aluminum, particularly where paint is chipped or scratched.

Practical implications:

- **Dry and inspect the frame after wet rides**, and after any exposure to salt (winter roads, coastal air).
- **Touch up paint chips** promptly to prevent rust spreading.
- **Pay attention to the underside of the frame, welds and the area around fasteners**, where water collects.
- **Do not use a high-pressure washer.** Water forced into seams and bearings causes more harm than the dirt it removes.

## Battery and charging

The EB66 uses a 48V 15Ah (≈720 Wh) pack charged by a 54.6V 2A UL-listed charger — the same charger used across the CEMOTO 48V range.

**Charging time is not published for the EB66**, but by comparison with the [B28](https://help.cemotoride.com/link/306), which specifies a 6–7 hour charge time on a 48V 13Ah pack with the same 2A charger, expect a similar order of magnitude — likely **7–8 hours per pack** from empty. Charging two packs doubles the task unless you have two chargers.

**Manual guidance on battery handling:**

- **Recharge before your first ride** and after any long-distance operation.
- Use only the battery supplied with, or recommended for, the bike.
- Use only the supplied charger. If it fails, replace it with the recommended charger — not a generic substitute.
- **For safety, cut the power supply when the bike is not in use.**
- Battery lifespan averages **1 to 2 years** depending on usage and conditions. Plan for replacement.
- **Never leave a battery charging unattended for long periods**, and charge on a non-flammable surface away from anything combustible.

CEMOTO does not publish a specific range figure for the EB66, so range must be estimated from energy content and compared against models with published figures.

The EB66 is heavy (41 kg) with fat tires and a low, wide stance. All three factors consume energy, so expect efficiency below that of a lighter, narrower-tired bike carrying the same charge. Use pedal assistance on climbs and into wind to conserve energy.

## Safety and legal notes

- **Wear an approved helmet** and observe all road rules for the area where you ride.
- **Confirm your local eBike rules.** A 750W motor with high energy capacity may sit above local eBike definitions — in some jurisdictions, higher-power, throttle-operated bikes are classified differently from pedal-assist eBikes, with consequences for licensing, insurance and where you may ride. - **eBikes are single-rider vehicles.** Never carry a passenger, regardless of the cruiser styling and apparent seating room.
- **Intended terrain:** on-road and improved trail. Do not ride rough trails — damage may occur.
- **Do not ride through deep water**, and avoid prolonged riding in rain. The steel frame and the electrical system both warrant particular care here.
- **Chain tension should be about 15 mm.**
- **Braking distance increases in bad weather**, and this is a heavy bike — allow generous stopping distance.
- **Mind the weight.** 41 kg is difficult to lift safely. Use proper technique and consider a second person for loading into vehicles.
