## The core maintenance principles

CEMOTO's owner manual sets out a small number of maintenance rules that cover most of what matters:

**1. Battery and charger**
Use only the included battery and the included battery charger. If either is discontinued or out of service, replace it immediately with the recommended part supplied for your model. Using a non-certified charger voids the battery warranty and creates a fire risk.

**2. Wheels and drive system**
Wheels and drive system components wear normally with use. It is the rider's responsibility to **systematically check the wheels for excessive wear** and to properly adjust and replace drive system components as needed.

**3. Spare parts**
Most common spare parts are available through CEMOTO distributors and the accessories range.

**4. Electrical components are not user-serviceable**
The electrical elements can only be cleaned on the outside. There is no need to maintain the inside, and **you should not open them yourself**. Opening sealed electrical components voids the warranty on those parts.

**5. Do not overload**
Overloading damages the electrical components — plastic parts can deform from high temperature, or the fuse socket can be damaged by heat. **Overload damage is not covered by warranty.**

**6. Cut the power when not in use**
For safety, cut the power supply when the bike is not being used. Turn the power switch off when the motorcycle is not in use.

**7. Clean only the exterior**
Never pressure-wash bearings, seals, connectors or the motor. See [Cleaning & Storage](https://help.cemotoride.com/link/322).

## Fastener check reminder

Fasteners settle after assembly and during the first rides. After your first 20–30 minutes of riding, re-check:

- Front and rear axle nuts
- Handlebar stem clamp bolts
- Brake caliper mounting bolts
- Pedals
- Motor mounting bolts
- Suspension mounting bolts

## The chain tension rule

Chain slack should be approximately **15 mm**. Check it frequently — chain tension affects drivetrain noise, wear rate and the risk of derailment. Adjustment procedure: loosen the rear axle nuts, adjust the tension screw, then retighten the axle nuts.

## Tire pressure rule

**Check air pressure frequently.** If the pressure is too low, rolling resistance increases and the riding range is reduced. Under-inflation also risks damaging the rim and pinching the inner tube.

Use a hand pump with an integrated pressure gauge and a Schrader-type valve. Do not use a pressurized gas-station air system — those are designed for car tires at much higher pressure and volume.

## Serviceability by design

CEMOTO selects **serviceable components** deliberately: the range is built around standard, replaceable parts rather than proprietary assemblies, and compatible D-series parts and accessories are available through the CEMOTO accessories range. This means:

- Wear items (pads, tires, chains, cables) can be replaced rather than requiring a whole assembly.
- The controller is programmable and the display parameters are accessible.
- A local bike shop can carry out most maintenance work.

Local bike shops can generally service most components, since most are standard. For **warranty-related repairs**, contact CEMOTO first to ensure coverage is preserved.
