# Maintenance Schedule

What to check, and when.

## Before every ride

| **Frame and fork** | No cracks, breaks, worn or loose parts |
| **Fasteners** | Axles, stem bolts and footpegs secure |
| **Chain** | Slack approximately 15 mm |
| **Display** | Illuminates; correct power reading; **no error indicator** |
| **Lights and horn** | Operational |

## After every ride (off-road use)

| Task | Why |
| --- | --- |
| Clean mud and grit from the chain, sprockets and tensioner | Grit is the primary cause of drivetrain wear |
| Inspect the brakes for grit, glazing and pad wear | Off-road braking accelerates pad wear |
| Wipe down the frame and suspension | Prevents corrosion and lets you spot cracks |
| Check the tires for damage and embedded debris | Off-road riding increases puncture risk |
| **Allow the motor and brakes to cool before touching them** | These components get very hot and can burn skin |
| If ridden in wet or dusty conditions: lubricate the chain | Prevents stiff links and rust |

## Weekly (or every few rides)

| Check and correct tire pressure |
| Check chain tension and adjust if necessary |
| Inspect brake pad thickness; adjust cable tension if applicable |
| Inspect the chain, sprocket and tensioner pulley for wear |
| Check the spoke tension and wheel trueness |
| Check the suspension for oil weeping and damaged seals |
| Re-check all fasteners, especially after any off-road ride on rough terrain |
| Clean the controller housing fins of mud so they can dissipate heat |

## Monthly

| Task |
| --- |
| **Battery health check.** Confirm the battery accepts and holds a full charge; note any decline in range |
| Inspect all electrical connectors for corrosion, water ingress and burned pins |
| Inspect the wiring harness for chafing where it passes the steering head, swing arm pivot and frame edges |
| Check the brake fluid level (hydraulic brakes) and look for leaks at the caliper, hose and master cylinder |
| Inspect the tires for sidewall cracking and tread wear; replace if worn |
| Check the suspension mounting bolts and shock pivots |
| Clean and inspect the chain; measure for elongation |
| Verify all lights, the brake light and the horn |
| Test the brake power cut-off function |

## Every 6 months

| Task |

| Consider a professional service — bearings, suspension and hydraulic brakes benefit from specialist attention |
| Bleed hydraulic brakes if lever feel has softened |
| Inspect wheel bearings and replace if rough or noisy |
| Inspect the suspension for oil loss and consider a fork/shock service |
| Full inspection of the frame for cracks, particularly around the head tube and shock mounts |
| Review the maintenance log and schedule any outstanding work |

## Annually

| Full professional service, including bearings and suspension |
| Replace hydraulic brake fluid |
| Replace the chain and sprocket as a set if worn |
| Assess the battery's remaining capacity against a new pack |
| Check the frame, fork and swing arm for fatigue cracks |
| Replace worn cables and housings |

## After specific events

| **Wet weather riding** | Dry the bike; lubricate the chain; inspect connectors for water ingress; check brake performance |
| **Sand or salt exposure** | Rinse thoroughly with low pressure; lubricate the chain; check for corrosion, especially on fasteners and the frame |
| **Deep mud** | Clean the drivetrain, wheels, brake calipers and controller fins |
| **Storage** | See [Cleaning & Storage](https://help.cemotoride.com/link/322) — set the battery to a partial charge and disconnect it |
| **Professional repair or wheel removal** | Re-verify axle torque, brake alignment and chain tension |
| **Shipping or transport** | Inspect for damage before the next ride |

## Owner manual maintenance requirements

Reproduced from the CEMOTO owner manual:

1. **Battery** — Use only the included battery. If it has been discontinued, replace it immediately with the recommended battery supplied with the electric motorcycle.
2. **Battery charger** — Use only the included battery charger. If it is out of service, replace it immediately with the recommended charger supplied with the motorcycle.
3. **Wheels** — Wheels and drive system components age or wear normally. It is the user's responsibility to systematically check the wheels for excessive wear and to properly adjust and replace drive system components if necessary.
4. **Spare parts** — Most common spare parts are available through our distributors.

Additional requirements from the manual:

- **Adjust the brakes frequently** and change the brake pads in time.
- **Check the chain tightness.** Slack should be about **15 mm**.
- **Check the air pressure frequently.** Low pressure increases resistance and reduces range.
- **The electrical elements can only be cleaned on the outside.** Do not open them yourself — opening them voids the warranty on those parts.
- **Do not overload the bike.** Electrical parts will be damaged; plastic parts may deform from high temperature and the fuse socket may be damaged by heat. These are not under warranty.
- **Cut off the power** if there is a problem with the electrical parts.
- **For safety, cut the power supply when the bike is not in use.**
- **The fastening torque of the fixing screw for the rear rack should be 16 N·m.**
